Divey Dispos

Bad lighting, no frills, odd smells, strange neighborhoods, and out-of-this-world bargains. Sometimes you just need a good old-fashioned dive dispo.

Old school, down-and-dirty legal cannabis dive dispensaries, often tucked into mini-malls and off side streets, are becoming increasingly hard to find. Once they dotted the city—no-fuss shops with 7-Eleven ambiance, unmarked jars on the counter, Bob Marley posters, ATMs bolted to the floor, the whiff of incense, and unbeatable deals. Now, multimillion-dollar architectural jewels with valet parking, exotic smoothies, sky-high prices, and complacent budtenders are de rigueur.

However, like going to a thrift store to score that something extra special, there are still a handful of lost-in-time dispensaries that are worth the adventure, deals, funky neighborhoods, and collegiate decor.

Sure, they’re called “dive dispensaries,” but the truth is these places are all about low-key fun, freedom, a sense of community and, on the right day, a little bit of a “what special bargains will I find?” vibe. Here are our six favorite haunts.

Venice Kush

1701 Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach

product image

Venice Kush is a Venice Beach Boardwalk staple. This decades-old, teeny-tiny shop has big fans: partakers from all over the city come to this super-friendly, locally owned dispo for the delightfully kitschy paneling, neon sign, top-shelf CBD, and lively weekend crowds. Bonus: the dispo has consistently been lauded as having the greatest selection of OG cannabis and OG wax. We left with the cheapest and freshest sticky OG Kush Moon Rocks we’ve ever seen. Mmmm.

West Valley Patients Center

23043 Ventura Boulevard, Woodland Hills

product image

While there’s no shortage of gargantuan, glittering dispos with high prices in Woodland Hills, this place is neither. It’s simply an unpretentious and refreshingly affordable destination for locals and those looking for a chill place to purchase quality cannabis at the best prices. Said to be one of the oldest dispos in Woodland Hills, the cramped and casual shop (drive slowly or you will miss it) has some of the best deals in the San Fernando Valley. Bonus: it’s next door to The Valley’s best diner, Bobby’s.

Sun Valley Caregivers

11000 Randall Street East, Sun Valley

product image

It may look like a drab phone repair shop in a mini-mall, but Sun Valley Caregivers’ deals and specials are quite attractive. They have an incredible selection of all varieties of products, bargain basement prices, and well-trained budtenders to make the trek worth it. Discounts include: Veterans (10% off), New Customers (15% off), Referral Discount (15% off), and the Stock-Up Discount (spend $1,000+ and receive 15% off). Plus, unlike other dispensaries that charge 15% excise tax, here, it’s included in the price of the product!

Euphoros

2934 North Broadway, Los Angeles

product image

Perched next to a nondescript furniture store in Lincoln Heights, Euphorosʼ checkered floors, overhead lighting, and relaxed atmosphere give it a mom-and-pop charm. Monique, the head budtender, is considered one of the best in the city. Their specials are simply the best. From the Early Bird Special (8AM - 10AM 10% off) to Happy Hours (4:20PM - 5:20PM 10% off) to Munchie Mondays (10% off all edibles) to Pick Your Deal Sunday (10% off your choice), you canʼt go wrong. Bonus: Open 365 days a year, you can use Zelle, and pets are allowed. Woof!

LaLaLand

2306 South Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles

product image

LaLaLand lives up to its name: a strangely cozy spot to bathe in the splashy cartoonish paintings, Day-Glo color swirls, and rap with groovily-attired budtenders. The shelves are always full—and the promotions are as creative as they get. Great budtenders, stellar prices, singular decor—LaLaLand might be LA’s best-kept dive dispo secret.

Weed Shop

7095 Hollywood Boulevard, Suite 201, Los Angeles

product image

The first thing you notice is the deer head on the wall wearing ski goggles. This legendary dispo in a mini-mall off Hollywood Boulevard has amazing prices, friendly staff, chill vibes, and a dope DJ on most days. Don’t miss: Women’s Wednesdays, where the flower is top shelf at bargain-basement prices just for the ladies. Ask for Johnny!
